Beaver Falls

Beaver Falls, once known for its steel industry, has experienced significant decline since the early 1980’s when the mills closed. As much of its population left town in search of work and greater opportunity, the city lost its tax base and has been unable to regain financial stability. The city struggles to battle poverty, joblessness, a deteriorating physical infrastructure, vacant homes and store fronts, drugs and prostitution.

In the midst of struggle, the city is not without significant assets providing a rich culture and sense of rootedness for the folks who call Beaver Falls home. Several churches have developed programs and made significant investments to meet the needs of the community, Beaver Falls has continually supported and celebrated the high school football and basketball teams, and neighborliness is an everyday reality.

Beaver Falls is also home to Geneva College which provides a Christian Liberal Arts education to 1,300 students.
